What’s Happening

An important message from the Friends of the Bay Spring Community Center:

Due to the coronavirus and with an abundance of caution, the Bay Spring Community Center has suspended all onsite programming until further notice.  We are currently running some great virtual programming and will be expanding our list of offerings.

Our top priority is the health and safety of community members. For reliable, up-to-date information about COVID-19, visit the websites of the RI Department of Health and the CDC.

To see our upcoming virtual events, please see the list below or check our Facebook page.

Writers’ Workshop @ Bay Spring Community Center
Feb 28 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Writers' Workshop @ Bay Spring Community Center

During the last week of February and all of March, BSCC is sponsoring a free weekly writers workshop each and every Tuesday evening @ 7pm.

Bring your most recent writing and/or your willingness to share your work.

This gathering will be a place to share your thoughts in creative writing and give your words a chance to be heard and if desired, performed at a later date.

Susan Collyer, (writer/producer Reflections in Rhode Island) is interested in what people are thinking and doing about the upcoming changes for our country. Although this forum is a support for creative writing, stories of personal changes in awareness and perception will be considered for production with her artists consortium ‘WORKING LIGHTS’ (inspired by the fact we have working lights at the BSCC).

A number of theater companies around the country are in contact with Ms. Collyer who are also interested in participating in the same venture. We believe in the power of personal stories and care very much about the common interest in the communities, states, nation and world. Therefore, these companies will gather their own stories and perform them as well, with RI taking the lead.
