Have you ever wanted to try playing bluegrass music? Join these slow jams led by the Rhode Island Bluegrass Alliance and have fun learning the basics!
Rhode Island Bluegrass Alliance is a non-profit organization that promotes awareness, appreciation, and education about bluegrass music, producing and sponsoring many events including weekly bluegrass concerts, the Children’s Academy at Grey Fox, Podunk and Rhythm and Roots music festivals, the RI Bluegrass Hall of Fame, and the annual RIBA “Pick-nic.” The monthly “Slow-Jam” has been an opportunity for beginners to play music in a comfortable environment with a moderator present to provide guidance in topics such as chord progression, taking an instrumental break, and jam etiquette. The jams are 2-3 hours, and the moderator is paid by a pass of the hat.
RIBA Slow Jams at Bay Spring are Sundays 3:00-5:00pm on June 27, July 18, August 15, September 19*, October 17, and November 21. Come on by and join in!
The location of the September 19 Slow Jam has been changed to the Ocean State RIBA Bluegrass Festival & Pic-nic to be held at Frerichs Farm in Warren, RI. RIBA Festival Info
